Pollution reaches alarming levels in Dehradun post Diwali

Dehradun’s air quality index (AQI) has turned poor as the city succumbed to the smoke caused by firecrackers on Diwali. The pollution levels had been at a medium range before the festival but immediately shot up on Nov 4. According to sources, the AQI in hilly areas is not worrisome and quality of air in the city may improve in the coming days.
Its current AQI is 191 and is ‘unhealthy’ according to Dehradun Real-Time Air Quality Index (AQI) & Pollution Report.
As for Delhi, the air remained in the ‘hazardous category’ for the second consecutive day after Diwali.
On Friday, the AQI of the capital had risen above 400 and it continues to breathe the air which stands at 458 on Saturday according to Real-Time Air Quality Index.
