Portals of Badrinath temple to reopen on May 12

The portals of the Badrinath temple will be reopened to the public on May 12 at 6 AM. The reopening date was formally announced after a ritual ceremony held at the erstwhile Tehri royal family’s palace in Narendranagar on the occasion of Vasant Panchami on Wednesday. The date and timing for the opening of the temple gates were announced by the priests of the erstwhile King of Tehri. The date for the opening of the temple gates is decided on the basis of the erstwhile Tehri king’s horoscope as per traditions. The ‘Gadu Ghada’ (oil pot) Yatra will begin on April 25. Rajpurohit Acharya Krishna Prasad Uniyal duly performed Ganesh puja and Panchang puja in the presence of erstwhile king of Tehri Manujendra Shah, MP Mala Rajyalaxmi Shah and others.
The president of the Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple (BKTC) Ajendra Ajay was also present on the occasion. After the ritual erstwhile King Manujendra Shah formally announced the date of opening of the doors.
The BKTC President Ajendra Ajay said that preparations for the Yatra will start with the announcement of opening of the doors of Badrinath temple.
With the opening of the portals of the Badrinath shrine, the world famous Char Dham Yatra starts in Uttarakhand. As per the official estimates more than 52 lakh pilgrims had visited the Char Dhams in the year 2023.
The portals of the Rurdranath temple will open to the public on May 18. The date of opening of the portals of the temple which is considered as the fourth Kedar was announced by the priests, members of the temple committee and the stakeholders at Gopinath temple on Wednesday.
The priest of the Rudranath temple Ved Prakash Bhatt said that the portal opening date was decided on the basis of the Panchang calculations.
