Portals of Hemkund Sahib to reopen on May 20

The portals of the revered shrine for the Sikh community people Hemkund Sahib will reopen on May 20 for the pilgrims. Informing this, the chief of the Hemkund Sahib Management Committee Narendrajit Singh Bindra said that the date of the reopening of the shrine portals after the winter break had been fixed during the meeting of the committee. He had met the general secretary of the committee S S Sandhu. During the meeting, it was decided by the Gurudwara trust that the pilgrimage to Hemkund would commence with the cooperation of the state government on May 20.
Notably, the char dham yatra in the state is commencing on April 22. The state government has remained busy now with the preparation for the ensuing char dham pilgrimage. It is being hoped that the number of pilgrims for the char dham yatra would break all past records this year. The portal opening dates for the four revered shrines have already been announced. For the Kedarnath shrine, the date is April 25 while for Badrinath it is April 27. And the portals of Gangotri and Yamunotri will reopen amidst the traditional ceremonies on April 22, on the auspicious occasion of Akshaya Tritiya.
