Would go on strike from midnight of Monday in support of their 14 point demands

Various employee associations of the power corporations of the state would go on an indefinite strike from Monday midnight. Under the banner of Vidyut Adhikari- Karmchari Sanyukt Morcha more than 3500 employees belonging to ten associations of the three corporations engaged in production, transmission and distribution of power in the state have joined hands for the strike. The Morcha wants that its 14 points demands should be accepted by the state government.

On Monday the secretary level talks with the Morcha failed and the employees resolved to go ahead with their strike plan.

The employees of the power corporations want that the old system of Assured Career Progression (ACP) should be restored and all the contractual workers of Uttarakhand Purva Sainik Kalyan Nigam Limited (UPNL) should be regularised.  It is worth mentioning here that the old ACP model of assured promotion at the end of nine, five and five years of service was taken back when the seventh pay commission recommendations were implemented in the power corporations. The convener of the Morcha Insarul Haq said that the employees would not take back their strike call till their demands are accepted. He said that an understanding was reached between the employee associations and government on December 22, 2017 but no action has been taken yet to implement the written understanding reached.

On Monday the General OBC employees association, the umbrella organisation of general and OBC employees of the state extended its support to the Morcha of power corporations. The leaders of the association went to the UJVNL headquarters on the day and assured their full support to the cause of the employees of power corporations.

Meanwhile the newly appointed Managing Director (MD) of Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited (UPCL) and Power Transmission Corporation Limited (PTCUL) Deepak Rawat took charge of the office on Monday.
