Questioning the ‘stony’ silence of the State administration over the continued apathy of three power corporations regarding the High Court’s equal work-equal pay order for the Uttarakhand Purv Sainik Kalyan Nigam Limited (UPNL)-sponsored staff, the president of Jan Sangharsh Morcha and former GMVN vice-president, Raghunath Singh Negi stated that his organisation would approach the State government soon and demand justice.
While addressing a presser in Dehradun on Friday, he said that the matter is serious enough to warrant the State government’s immediate intervention.
Citing the High Court’s ruling, he said that all the departments and corporations operating under the State government have already complied with the HC’s equal work- equal pay order except the three power corporations- UPCL, UJVNL and PTCUL. “It is intriguing as to why they choose to sit on the HC ruling,” he commented.
As per the agitating outfit’s version, the High Court had given instructions to the authorities concerned to provide equal pay for equal work to the personnel employed/sponsored through UPNL regarding the Public Interest Litigation no 116/2018, “In compliance with this, the government instructed all the departments on 3 February to implement the order. Subsequently, almost all the departments/corporations have complied with the instructions to provide equal pay for equal work to the ex-servicemen. However, till date, the three corporations under the Energy department have not complied,” informed Negi. Expressing his anguish over this continued injustice being meted out to ex-servicemen, he asked the ministers and officials concerned to explain their studied silence on the matter concerning the ex-servicemen. “The Morcha will soon knock the doors of the State government to secure justice for these long-deprived ex-servicemen,” Negi added.
