PRD personnel playing a leading role in security & public service: Dhami

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that a specialised training institute would be established in the State for the personnel of Prantiya Rakshak Dal (PRD). The CM attended the ceremonial Parade of the PRD personnel at Nanoorkheda in Dehradun on Thursday. The Parade marked the foundation day of the PRD in the State.

The CM announced that the PRD personnel will be considered on duty during treatment if hospitalised during duty and will continue to receive honorarium for a period of six months.  He also declared that a sports ground for PRD will be constructed in Asthal village of Dehradun.

Extending his greetings on the foundation day of the PRD, the CM said that the PRD personnel are working with patience and dedication and are playing a leading role in security and public service in the State. The PRD personnel are helping in maintaining smooth traffic, security arrangements, clerical work and various departmental responsibilities and are working in challenging situations during natural disasters. During the Char Dham Yatra, the PRD personnel help in ensuring the safe journey of lakhs of devotees.

The CM claimed that the State government has taken many decisions for the welfare of PRD personnel. At the time of the State’s formation, the allowance of PRD personnel was Rs 65 per day which now has increased to Rs 650 per day. The government is providing scholarships to the children of PRD personnel. Dhami said that a one-time allowance of Rs 18 lakh has also been provided to PRD Jawans who retired after completing 10 years of service. The amount given to the family in case of death during duty in communal riots has been increased from Rs one lakh to Rs two lakh. 

Speaking on the occasion, the cabinet minister Rekha Arya said that PRD soldiers serve the State in every situation. From elections, festivals, disasters, to normal times, PRD soldiers are always at the forefront. She said that CM Dhami has taken several historic decisions in the interests of PRD soldiers. Arya added that more than 7,500 PRD personnel are serving the State. 

Local MLA Umesh Sharma Kau, special principal secretary Amit Sinha, additional director Youth Welfare Rakesh Dimri and others attended the programme.
