Prefabricated homes ready for Joshimath disaster victims

Few homes to be ready soon at Dhak for affected families
Work is being undertaken at a brisk pace to facilitate the rehabilitation of the land subsidence affected people in Joshimath. The construction of prefabricated homes on Horticulture department’s land has been completed while some prefabricated homes have been prepared at Dhak too. The Chamoli district magistrate Himanshu Khurana inspected the homes built on the departmental land and the construction work underway at Dhak on Saturday. He directed officials of the executing agency to complete the remaining construction works at Dhak soon. The affected families should be shifted without delay to the homes which are ready, he added.
According to officials, 1BHK, 2BHK and 3BHK pre fabricated structures have been built on Horticulture department’s land in Joshimath. Some of the 15 pre fabricated structures are also ready at Dhak while the construction of the remaining homes is in the final stages. Finishing work is underway at this site, said the officials. Meanwhile, the district magistrate also presented cheques amounting to Rs 38.63 lakh to two home owners as part of the rehabilitation package for the Joshimath disaster affected. A sum of Rs 1.01 crore has been distributed among five building owners as compensation as part of the rehabilitation package so far. Sub divisional magistrate Kumkum Joshi and other officials were also present during the inspections.
