The chief medical officer (CMO), Dehradun, Dr Manoj Kumar Sharma directed the officials concerned to ensure that pregnant women from disaster-sensitive areas are admitted to the nearest hospitals one week before their expected delivery dates.
He issued this directive at a monthly review meeting involving national health programmes. The meeting covered important topics such as institutional delivery, antenatal care (ANC) checkups, vaccinations, Janani Suraksha Yojana (JSY), maternal and infant mortality rates, child health and the management of both communicable and non-communicable diseases.
Among those present at the meeting were the chief medical superintendents (CMS) of Deen Dayal Upadhyaya District Hospital and the sub-district hospital.
Dr Sharma said that the pregnant women should be admitted one week prior to delivery to ensure safety of both the mother and child through institutional deliveries. He also instructed that every block medical unit should provide timely benefits of beneficiary-oriented schemes under the JSY and Janani Shishu Suraksha Karyakram (JSSK).
While reviewing the figures on institutional deliveries, he stressed that all deliveries in the district should be institutional. He also unscored the importance of transparent investigation and reporting in cases of maternal and infant mortality.
Further, Dr Sharma directed all medical superintendents to regularly monitor national health programmes and personally inspect the implementation of the schemes. Regarding the e-Sanjeevani services, he stressed the importance of providing proper guidance to beneficiaries contacted through the e-Sanjeevani platform and emphasised the need for regular reporting on the portal.
