Responding to the opposition of the Congress party to the Agnipath scheme, the Bharatiya Janata Party has stated that incomplete knowledge is very dangerous. The BJP State spokesman Ravinder Jugran said that prejudice is even more dangerous that incomplete knowledge. He said that the Congress is afflicted by prejudice and is hence opposing the Agnipath scheme for the sake of opposing.
Jugran said that the Defence ministry, army, navy and airforce along with defence experts have been working for the past three and a half years to bring the Agnipath scheme on the ground. It is only after in-depth study and deliberations that the Agnipath scheme is being implemented in national interest to enhance the youth content in the armed forces and facilitate the modernisation of the armed forces, he said. The BJP spokesman further said that while 25 per cent of the Agniveers will be retained in the armed forces the remaining 75 per cent will get about Rs 22 lakh after four years of service along with certificate and varied job opportunities with reservation in paramilitary forces, employment opportunities in the industries and government assistance for self-employment.
Jugran said that after four years of service, there will be lakhs of disciplined and dedicated Agniveers in all sectors of the country. This model has been adopted by various nations according to their requirements. “Other political parties should comment on the Agnipath scheme only after studying the scheme in depth,” he added.
