The district administration will start preparing affidavit and final report to be submitted in the hearing of the National Green Tribunal (NGT) on July 24 as all the agencies concerned including the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) and the Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) have submitted their final report regarding the encroachments removed alongside the Rispana riverbed. The MCD had identified about 525 encroachments alongside the Rispana riverbed that were built after 2016. Out of these encroachments, 89 were on MCD’s land, 415 were on MDDA’s land, 12 on Mussoorie Palika’s land and 11 on the Revenue department’s land. After considering objections raised by slum dwellers, MCD and MDDA finalised 61 structures and 249 structures for the demolition respectively. Though the corporation, Mussoorie Nagar Palika and the Revenue department demolished all marked structures on their lands, MDDA demolished only 61 structures out of 249. The officials has claimed that MDDA will resume the drive after verification of more structures. All agencies concerned have submitted report to the MCD and the district administration. The Dehradun district magistrate Sonika said that the administration has received reports from almost all the departments and agencies concerned. “I am yet to go through all of them. However, we will soon start making affidavits and final reports regarding the encroachments removed from Rispana riverbed. It will be presented to the NGT on July 24 after which, further action will be taken accordingly,” she said.
