Prepare list of owners not disposing garbage by door to door collection: Bansal
PNS | DEHRADUN
Dehradun’s newly appointed municipal commissioner Namami Bansal has ordered officials to prepare detailed data of houses and buildings in each ward to identify which property owners are not disposing of their garbage during door to door garbage collection service. She has asked the officials to create separate lists of such building owners and prepare a report regarding the failure to dispose of waste during garbage collection, including the reasons for the same.
Bansal held a meeting with the senior officials of the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) and representatives of the waste management companies to address the city’s sanitation issues, focusing on efficient door-to-door waste collection, disposal and the collection of user charges. The meeting focussed on implementing a streamlined strategy to improve the city’s sanitation. Bansal instructed the companies managing door-to-door waste collection to ensure 100 per cent waste collection in their allocated wards. These companies were also tasked with resolving all sanitation-related complaints promptly.
Bansal also emphasised the need for ward-wise data collection to identify property owners who are providing waste to company vehicles and those who are not. The commissioner also directed the companies to prioritise the clearance of legacy waste accumulated at the old trenching ground site on Sahastradhara Road. The companies’ representatives were asked to expedite the disposal process to free the site from its waste burden.
She also instructed companies to provide necessary safety equipment to the sanitation workers and work towards expanding the coverage of door-to-door waste collection services across the city. She said that with a focus on accountability and efficiency, the municipal officials must aim to establish a cleaner and more sustainable environment in the city.
