President Murmu offers prayers in Badrinath temple

President Droupadi Murmu visited the Badrinath temple on Wednesday. She offered prayers for about 25 minutes in the temple. Amid tight security the President arrived in a helicopter of Indian Air Force (IAF) at Badrinath army helipad at 10:20 AM. She was accorded a warm welcome by the governor of Uttarakhand lieutenant general (retd) Gurmit Singh and chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami at the helipad.
A replica of Badrinath made in Bhojpatra and a basket of local products was presented to the President by the CM.
The chairman of the Badrinath Kedarnath Temple committee (BKTC) Ajendra Ajay was also present at the helipad to greet Murmu.
In the temple premises the President appeared captivated by its beauty and serenity. After the President paid obeisance in the temple her entourage left for Srinagar. The administration had made all the necessary preparations for the visit of the President. The Chamoli district magistrate Himanshu Khurana, superintendent of police Rekha Yadav, CEO of BKTC Yogendra Singh and other officers were also present on the occasion.
