Bharatiya Janata Party national president JP Nadda sought detailed information about the Joshimath situation from the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and BJP State president Mahendra Bhatt in a telephonic conversation on Wednesday. He directed them to ensure arrangements by the government which prevent public loss and to maximise involvement of party workers in the relief and rescue efforts. He appealed to all for a humanitarian approach in this crisis.

The BJP State media in-charge Manveer Singh Chauhan informed that Nadda had a telephonic conversation with Dhami in which he sought detailed information about the situation in Joshimath. Directing that priority should be accorded to relief and assistance to the affected persons, he assured of all possible assistance to the State from the Centre. He said that after the report of the Central and State government’s expert team is received, any treatment recommended for a permanent solution to the problem should be executed.  He said that along with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the entire nation stands with the people of Joshimath.

In his conversation with Bhatt, the BJP national president said that along with humanitarian behaviour with the affected persons, better coordination between the governmental and non-governmental assistance should be ensured. Directing the party workers to accept this challenge, he said that they should become involved in relief and rescue efforts. Bhatt informed Nadda that a high level committee of the party is checking the ground conditions and is consistently monitoring the situation. Teams of senior party workers are deployed in Joshimath to set up a disaster control room, monitor subsidence at the local level and undertake relief efforts, he said.
