Prez confers Uttarakhand Gaurav Samman on 4 luminaries

In latest news from Dehradun, President Droupadi Murmu bestowed the State’s highest civilian award ‘Uttarakhand Gaurav Samman’ on four persons in recognition of their extraordinary contribution in multiple fields of human endeavours at the principal State Foundation Day commemorative function held in the Police Lines in the city. One of the recipients is the environmentalist from Pauri Sachidanand Bharti about whom PM Narendra Modi warmly spoke about in his monthly radio programme Maan Ki Baat. He has been working for over three years dedicatedly in the fields of environment through tree plantation and water conservation initiatives. Another recipient of the award is Rajendra Singh Bisht from Gangolihat in Munsyari region of Pithoragarh district. He is known for his remarkable contribution to the cause of village development. The people living in over hundred most backward villages of the region have been benefited by his works in the fields of water conservation, environment, sanitation, livestock farming and education. The Padma Shri awardee Jagar singer Basanti Bisht is another recipient of the award and the fourth recipient is Padma Shri awardee folk singer of the State Madhuri Barthwal. While congratulating the recipients of the award, President Murmu conveyed to them her best wishes. Earlier, the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami congratulated them while dwelling on their contribution to the development of the State.
