The Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Karan Mahara has said that the ever spiralling prices and unemployment has made it tough for the common man to celebrate the festivals properly. The people are reeling under rising prices and education has become very expensive. He said that apart from increasing fees, a hefty 40 to 50 per cent increase has occurred in the stationery and books this year. The PCC president was participating in an Eid Milan programme organised at Mehuwala on Friday. He said that the festival of Eid gives a message of love, brotherhood and social harmony.

The PCC president said that it is an irony that liquor is cheap and water and electricity are dearer in Uttarakhand.  He said that the BJP is engaged in divisive politics and is spreading the venom of communalism to shred the social fabric of the country. Mahara said that in such a situation it is a duty of every Congress worker to take the message of love of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to every household.

The programme was organised by Congress leader Rao Wasim Ahmed. The president of Mahanagar Congress Jaswinder Singh Gogi, media in-charge PK Agarwal, Navin Joshi, Manish Nagpal and others were present on the occasion.
