Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami announced that the primary health centre in Gauchar will soon undergo an upgrade. He said this while inaugurating the 71st State Industrial Development and Cultural Fair at Gauchar in Chamoli district on Tuesday.
Speaking on the occasion, Dhami emphasised the importance of strengthening infrastructure for industrial development. To achieve this, special efforts are being made to improve road, rail, ropeway, air connectivity and conserve energy and water resources. The ongoing Char Dham road project, construction of Rishikesh-Karnprayag railway line and ropeway projects in the State are examples of this. He further said that Uttarakhand is committed to becoming a developed State and consistent efforts are being made towards achieving this goal.
The CM further said that the government has taken several important steps to improve the lives of the citizens. These include providing three gas cylinders to Antyodaya families, implementing a 30 per cent horizontal reservation for women in the State government jobs, work towards introduction of Uniform Civil Code, enacting a strict anti-conversion law and implementing a strict anti-copying law. Additionally, the government is also making provisions for a 10 per cent horizontal reservation in government jobs for statehood activists and their dependents, he added.
Commenting on the Gauchar fair Dhami said, “Fairs are like rainbow colours in our lives and bring freshness and enthusiasm. In ancient times, when communication and transportation facilities were not present, fairs greatly helped in weaving the social fabric and expanding the social and practical circle of people. The Gauchar fair is a renowned State fair in Uttarakhand due to the mix of culture, market and industry.”
