In a bid to boost healthcare services, a primary health centre is all set to open in Kot block of Pauri district, the State health minister Dhan Singh Rawat said.
He emphasised the State government’s commitment to providing enhanced medical facilities to the general people in both the plains and hilly areas of the State. “As part of efforts to expand healthcare facilities in Pauri district, a primary health centre is being instituted in Kot block. The State government has already approved the up-gradation proposal for Muchhiyali health sub- centre and the official government order on this matter will be issued soon,” he said.
The minister further said that the primary health centre when it comes up at Muchhiyali would benefit over 6,000 people with enhanced healthcare facilities. “The centre will offer essential primary treatments and allow local residents to access various government schemes, including pulse polio campaigns, infant vaccinations and institutional delivery services,” Rawat said.
Further, he stated that the State government has fulfilled a longstanding demand of the local community by deciding to open a government hospital in Muchhiyali under Kot block.
Considering the excessive dependence of the people on the Muchhiyali health sub-centre to avail the government’s health schemes and the absence of any government medical unit within a 20-kilometer radius of the sub-centre, the State Health department has relaxed population standards under Indian Public Health Standards (IPHS).
He pointed out that villagers are currently required to travel approximately 20 to 25 kms to reach the district hospital in Pauri or the community health centre at Kot for medical treatment. “The establishment of the primary health centre in Muchhiyali will provide timely treatment and eliminate the need for them to travel to more distant locations,” Rawat said.
