Pritam backs Hridayesh’s claim of some BJP leaders in touch with her

Adding more impetus to the speculation triggered by the statement of the Leader of Opposition (LoP) Indira Hridayesh that some senior leaders of BJP keen to defect to Congress are in touch with her, the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Pritam Singh said on Tuesday that there is a basis in the claim of Hridayesh. “Indira ji is a very experienced and senior leader and she never claims anything without any substance. Her statement means something,’’ he said.

Talking to the media persons at the state headquarters of the Congress party on Tuesday, the PCC chief said that the recent four day session of Uttarakhand assembly has exposed the internal divisions in the BJP.  “There cannot be any smoke without fire. In the assembly the BJP MLAs were very assertive and targeted their own government on corruption,’’ he quipped.

Raising the issue of the corruption in the Uttarakhand Building and Other Construction workers Welfare (UKBOCW) board, the PCC chief said that the company which was transferred Rs 20 Crores by the board for construction of hospital in Kotdwar has returned Rs 18 Crores to the board. It raises questions as to where the remaining Rs 2 Crores have gone. Launching an attack on the state government, the PCC president said that mining, land and liquor mafia are ruling the roost in the state. He added that there many irregularities have surfaced in the board. He said that the BJP’s MLAs are raising issues related to corruption in the state assembly. Singh said that the ‘Zero tolerance on corruption’ has turned out to be a mere rhetoric and the BJP government of Uttarakhand is immersed neck deep in corruption. The Congress leader reminded that the Uttarakhand High Court (HC) had ordered that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) should investigate the charges of corruption against chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat. He said that the CM had promised that Lokayukt would be brought within 100 days but even after four years, Lokayukt is not visible anywhere.
