Singh demands CBI probes in Ankita Bhandari case & recruitment scam

Wednesday, 02 AUGUST 2023 | PNS | DEHRADUN

Former Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president and Chakrata MLA Pritam Singh has demanded that the government should order a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) investigation in the Ankita Bhandari murder case and the recruitment scam. Interacting with the media persons at Vidhan Sabha on Tuesday, Singh said that in the Ankita Bhandari murder case the BJP is accusing the Congress of not having faith in the judiciary. The fact is that the Congress has full faith in democracy but it doesn’t have faith in the investigation agency in the case, he said. He said that a series of recruitment scams have maligned the image of the State and have come as a blow to the future of the unemployed youths of the State. “The Congress party demands that the CBI should investigate both these cases and the investigation should be done under a sitting judge of the High Court,’’ he said.

Accusing the BJP-led Union government of making false promises to the farmers of the country, Singh said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had claimed that the income of the farmers will double by the year 2022 but the promise has remained unfulfilled. He said that the income of farmers will not increase by the Kisan Samman Nidhi. Singh said that the government should increase the minimum support price (MSP) of the crops to increase the income of farmers. He said that the State government has not paid the dues of the sugarcanes farmers and the overall condition of farmers in the State is pathetic. The former PCC president said that the investigation report in the electrocution incident in Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) of Chamoli in which 16 persons lost their lives indicates laxity at various levels. He also attacked the government on the alleged scam in Kedarnath gold plating and irregularities in the Smart City project. Singh said that the Congress workers will hit the road to register their protest on all these issues.
