Pritam extends support to the terminated Vidhan Sabha employees

Saturday, 07 January 2023 | PNS | Dehradun

The agitation of the terminated employees of Uttarakhand Vidhan Sabha continued on 19 day on Friday. Former Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president  and Chakrata MLA, Pritam Singh went to the Dharma spot on the day to extend his support to the agitating employees. Speaking on the occasion Singh said that the DK Kotia committee in its report has clearly mentioned that the irregularities in the appointments in Vidhan Sabha have occurred from the day one and in such a situation  the punitive action on only the employees appointed after the year 2016 raises questions. He said that the Speaker cannot provide protection to the employees recruited prior to the year 2016 on the grounds that they are now regular employees. Singh said that the employees who were appointed and then terminated had no role in the process adopted for appointing them and are not culprits. He said that the real culprits are those who made these appointments.

It is pertinent to mention here that all the ad hoc employees recruited prior to 2016 were regularised while those recruited in 2016, 2020 and 2021 were terminated by the Speaker Khanduri on the recommendations of the Kotia committee. After losing the legal battle these employees are sitting on an indefinite Dharna outside Vidhan Sabha in Dehradun.

Congress leaders Lalchand Sharma, Rajendra Shah and others accompanied Pritam Singh.
