In latest news from Dehradun, soon after being appointed as a senior observer of the poll-bound Chhattisgarh, the State senior Congress leader and Chakrata MLA Pritam Singh has been included in the party’s Central Election Committee (CEC) as a member following the committee’s re-jig by the party’s national president Mallikarjun Kharge. Importantly, this committee comprises 16 members, including Kharge, Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi. Those close to Singh are now claiming that he is all set to be appointed the party’s national general secretary or secretary in coming days. Pritam loyalists have sounded elated over their mentor being elevated in the party’s national hierarchy. In his maiden reaction to his inclusion in the CEC, Singh expressed his gratitude to the Congress high command, particularly to Kharge, Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, for reposing such confidence in him.
