The Bharatiya Janata Party State president Mahendra Bhatt opined that Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi is unaware of Uttarakhand and its essence. He said that her rallies in the State on Saturday had failed to elicit enthusiasm among the Congress workers.

Bhatt said, “The Congress general secretary spoke on issues on which the people of Uttarakhand have already rejected the party. She talks of women’s safety and dignity but always remains silent on instances of women being insulted. Whether it be women reservation or triple talaq, she has remained silent on all such issues. She does not understand Uttarakhand and its issues. Uttarakhand is a State which has a large population of servicemen and the State moves forward with the national ideology. It is the BJP government which has cared about the issues of the armed forces. It was the government under PM Narendra Modi which facilitated one rank one pension and the modernisation of the armed forces. The youths of the State will not fall for the Congress propaganda because they know that the BJP is a party which places the nation first. The borders of the nation are secure under the BJP government,” he said.

Bhatt further said that the Congress Nyay Patra which she read out is connected to the injustices meted out by Congress governments.  The Congress is suffering the consequences of the suicides by troubled farmers, drama in the name of poverty eradication, pain of the people for justice and in the appointment process, which the Congress failed to understand. “The Congress leader who preached about faith and religion in Uttarakhand was silent when her party questioned the very existence of Lord Ram, hurting the sentiments of crores of devotees in the nation. It would have been better had she raised her voice against the injustice being meted out to women in her own party,” the BJP State president said.
