Probe ordered in admission scam of Sridev Suman U’khand University

Some colleges had admitted more students than the approved number of seats.
The Uttarakhand government has ordered a probe on the complaint that some of the colleges affiliated with Sri Dev Uttarakhand Suman University have admitted more students than the approved number of seats.
Taking a stern account of the episode, the higher education minister Dhan Singh Rawat has constituted an inquiry committee at the level of the state administration to investigate the issue. The committee has been directed to complete its investigation within two weeks and submit its report. In a statement released on Saturday Rawat said that admission of more students than the stipulated numbers by some institutes of higher education affiliated to Sridev Suman University is against the norms and the state government has taken immediate cognizance of the issue. He said that a high level inquiry has been ordered.
The minister assured that strict action would be taken against those found involved in the scam. He said that action against the private colleges would also be taken if they are found guilty. The minister however assured that the interests of the students would be protected.
