In latest news from Uttarakhand, a day before the polling, the Uttarkashi district magistrate Meharban Singh Bisht announced prohibition on sale and purchase of alcohol in the district from 5 pm till the end of voting on April 19. As per the order, no spirituous, fermented or intoxicating substance or any other substance of similar nature can be sold in the district for this period as per the instructions of the Election Commission. Besides, all vendors, contractors, and producers have been strictly ordered not to sell any type of alcoholic beverages during this period and strict action would follow against violators.
