The police arrested a property broker Sunny (36) with Rs 2.6 crore cash that he allegedly stole from the house of one of his clients in Dehradun, said the Dehradun senior superintendent of police Daleep Singh Kunwar. He said that a woman named Meenu Goyal from the Raipur area registered a complaint about theft in her house on Saturday.
The police started the investigation but the complainant was initially not telling the police about the exact amount stolen from her house but on insistence, she said it to be about Rs 2.6 crore. “The complainant informed us that she used to live in Delhi with her mother and brother but shifted to Dehradun about two months ago after selling the property of her mother and her brother for about Rs 13 crore. She said that she got some amount in her account and some amount in cash that she brought to Dehradun. She met the broker Sunny who helped her buy a house. She wanted to invest money in some property and he was also aware of the cash she had at her house as she once went with him to pay cash to buy a property but the deal failed,” said Kunwar.
The complainant claimed that Sunny was with her when she went out for dinner along with her family on Friday night. When she returned, she observed that her money was stolen along with a digital video recorder of CCTV camera installed in the room. After analysing the CCTV footage of the area, the police nabbed Sunny from the Sahastradhara Road area late on Monday. The SSP said that he has confessed to the crime which he committed with the help of his friend whom he called from Uttar Pradesh. The police will nab him soon, he added.
