Public discontent will lead to BJP’s downfall- PCC chief
The discontent in the public will end up being the reason for the downfall of the Bharatiya Janata Party. The Pradesh Congress Committee president Pritam Singh said this while addressing the Jan Akrosh rally at Srinagar in Pauri district on Sunday. The Congress had called the rally to protest against price rise, unemployment, disorder and the alleged failure of the BJP to fulfil its promises.
Addressing public gatherings held after the rally, the PCC president averred that the BJP had not only failed in controlling price rise, corruption and unemployment but had actually been involved in exacerbating these problems. The BJP state government has been consistently deferring important issues like the appointment of the Lokayukta and investigation into major alleged scams. He said, “The BJP has failed in providing employment to the youths of the state. Not only this, the employment opportunities already existing have been discontinued. On top of this, the price rise has broken the back of the common man. The people of Uttarakhand today are troubled by and angry at the disorder, hopelessness and mismanagement prevalent in the state. The people are looking up to the Congress to chart a new course.”
Addressing the gatherings, former chief minister Harish Rawat questioned the works done by the state government in its four years in office so far. The party’s state in-charge Devendra Yadav, leader of opposition Indira Hridayesh, former PCC president Kishore Upadhyaya and other party leaders were also present in the rally which was attended by a considerable number of party workers and supporters.
