The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and chief ministerial candidate Ajay Kothiyal said that the public of Uttarakhand is filled with discontent with the government schools and the dilapidated buildings of such schools can cause big mishaps anytime. Kothiyal said this after visiting a primary school in Khatima on Thursday. He said that one can easily assess the condition of the government schools across the state when schools in the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami’s own constituency are in such bad condition. It is disheartening to see how children have to study in such dilapidated schools that pose a consistent risk to their lives, stated Kothiyal.
He said that the locals told him about the apathetic attitude of the government towards the school. He said that they told him there are heaps of garbage around the schools and the school building is shaky but nothing is being done by the government. “I recently visited Delhi’s government schools where the conditions are completely opposite. Here the roof is coming off and children are sitting on the floor. People should raise their voice against such mismanagement here,” stated Kothiyal.
