Garhwal MP and senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader Tirath Singh Rawat claimed that the mood of the public in Uttarakhand has made the party confident that it will win all the five parliamentary seats in the State and that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be re-elected for a third term.
Sharing his campaigning experience with the media here on Saturday, former chief minister Rawat said that the people have directly witnessed the achievements of the double-engine government. The people want to start the re-election of PM Modi to a third term from Uttarakhand. On the other hand, the lassitude and condition of the Congress shows that the security deposit of many of its candidates is going to be forfeited, he said.
“As a political worker, I got the opportunity to campaign for the party in different parts of the State. Based on my personal experience and the feedback received from the general public, the ‘400 plus’ slogan is being heard in all villages and homes in the State. From Chakrata to Champawat and Mana to Manglaur, there is no one posing a challenge to the BJP candidates. So strong is the Modi wave that even the workers of opposition parties are going to vote for the BJP for a developed India,” Rawat said. Stating that the unprecedented development achieved across the nation during the 10 years under PM Modi guarantees the party’s victory in this Lok Sabha election, he said that the party is going to the public with its 10-year report card. “Along with BJP State president Mahendra Bhatt, chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and party office bearers, about 33,000 are reaching the public along with the Modi Pranam programme. They are doing two main works as stated by PM Modi- first to offer salutations to the local deities on his behalf and second to meet the voters and convey his ‘Ram Ram’ to them,” he said.
Rawat further cited former chief minister and senior Congress leader Harish Rawat’s statement and said that the Congress leaders too have already acknowledged their defeat. “This is why they are speaking the truth that their party has become lethargic while the BJP is active. The situation today is such that the people do not wish to waste their precious vote by voting in favour of an opposition candidate. It won’t be surprising if the deposits of many Congress and opposition candidates are forfeited on June 4 when the Lok Sabha election results are announced,” Rawat added.
