Pulse anaemia mega campaign launched in U’khand

Health minister Dhan Singh Rawat launched the pulse anaemia mega campaign in Dehradun on Monday.

Addressing a programme organised at the launch of the campaign at the Ayushman Arogya Mandir, Raipur on Monday, Rawat said that the objective of the campaign is to set up a concrete framework to reduce maternal mortality rate, improving the health of mothers and reducing the instances of anaemia in the pregnant women in the State.  He expressed hope that the campaign will help in creating awareness in the local society and making the health of pregnant women better. 

The minister informed that the campaign will work on T -4 strategy of test, talk, treat and track.

 He said the screening test of all the pregnant women will be done under the campaign. Similarly consultancy on prevention of anaemia and nutrition with emphasis on eating iron rich food products and vitamin C and focus on timely treatment (iron therapy and blood transfusion) will be done in the campaign which will also include regular monitoring and follow up. 

In the programme the minister exhorted all the health workers, doctors, ANMs, eligible beneficiaries and society to play an active role in the campaign. He opined that the collective effort will take the State forward on the path of becoming healthy and prosperous.

The minister also distributed nutrition kits to the pregnant women on the occasion. 

Speaking on the occasion, the deputy chairperson of rural health and monitoring council, Suresh Bhatt said that the campaign is a major initiative in the direction of improving the health of pregnant women of the State. He said that the campaign will ensure a positive change in maternal and infant health.

Mission director National Health Mission, Swati S Bhadauria said that the campaign is being organised in 1,874 screening centres and 165 health centres acrosss the State and it will culminate on February 10.

 Country head Bhutan, World Health Organisation, Bhupendir Kaur Olakh emphasised on increasing awareness about anaemia, nutrition education and adopting a healthy life style.
