Punia ends 3 day fact finding mission on Congress’s LS poll loss

Senior Congress leader PL Punia ended his three- day long deliberations with party leaders, office bearers and heads of frontal organisations on the loss to the party in the recent Lok Sabha elections. A member of the fact finding committee of Congress party, Punia met senior leaders and heads of the frontal organisations at Rajiv Bhawan on Saturday. On Thursday the senior leader reviewed the performance of the party in the Almora- Pithoragarh and Nainital- Udham Singh Nagar parliamentary constituencies. On Friday Punia reviewed Garhwal, Tehri Lok Sabha and Haridwar LS constituencies. He met the former MPs, MP candidates, MLAs and former MLAs in the review sessions. He also took feedback from the leaders on the cause of the defeat of the party candidates.
During the three day long stay, Punia held marathon sessions spanning nine to 10 hours in a day. He held one to one sessions with the leaders in which he took feedback on the performance of the party and functioning of the party in the State. In these sessions the leaders are learnt to have targeted senior leaders for refusing to contest the LS elections while some expressed dissatisfaction at the style of the functioning of Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Karan Mahara. Punia will now submit his report to the party president Mallikarjun Kharge.
Commenting on the visit of Punia, the PCC president Mahara said that Punia is a very senior and experienced leader of the Congress party and he met all the leaders, office bearers and representatives of the frontal organisation during his three day long visit. In response to a question regarding his performance as PCC president and responsibility for loss of party candidates in all the five LS seats, Mahara said that he is working hard for the party but added that it is for the party high command to assign responsibilities to the leaders.
