Purnagiri to become major tourism hub, says CM after inaugurating its famous fair

Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that Purnagiri will become a major hub of religious tourism in the future with the government working to develop this region. Dhami said this after inaugurating the famous Purnagiri Mela at Tanakpur in Champawat district on Saturday.

The CM said that Uttarakhand is a Devbhoomi as divinity is present everywhere here. He said that Purnagiri Dham is an important religious centre of Uttarakhand and after Kumbh and Kanwad, maximum number of pilgrims visit the temple.

He said that the State government is committed to operate the Purnagiri Mela and the necessary infrastructure is being developed in the area for this.  In the coming years the area will become a mega centre of religious and spiritual tourism. He said that 13 multilevel parkings have been approved in Champawat and Inter State Bus Terminus with a budget of Rs 200 crore will be constructed in Tanakpur. Important temples of the Kumaon region will be developed under the Manaskhand Mandir Mala Mission.

Dhami further said that work on the ropeway project is underway in Purnagiri, which will make the Yatra of pilgrims easier. The CM said that the Purnagiri circuit will be developed by the government. He averred that the government is working to make Champawat a developed and leading district of the State. Stating that the campus college of Soban Singh Jeena University has started in Champawat, he said that a science centre with a budget of Rs 55 crore is being constructed in Champawat and many development projects are underway in the district.  The CM said that the organisation of National Games in Tanakpur will give a boost to rafting activity in Tanakpur. In his address the CM assured the Mela committee that the Purnagiri Mela is a priority of the State government and best possible facilities will be provided to every pilgrim.

The district president of BJP Govind Samant, president of Purnagiri temple committee Kishan Tiwari and other leaders and officers of district administration attended the programme.
