In an attempt to reduce the burden of heavy school bags on the students of the private schools, the State government has decided to implement the concept of bag free day once a month in these schools. From next month all the schools of the State will observe a bag free day every month.
The Education minister Dhan Singh Rawat said that a decision in this regard was taken in a recent meeting with the representatives of the private school. The minister said that in the meeting, he asked the private schools to add the ‘Hamari Virasat Evam Vibhootiyan’ book in their curriculum. The book is designed by the State Council of Education Research and Training (SCERT) for the students of schools. He said that the students of the private schools will now be able to get acquainted with the rich culture, heritage, cultural and social reforms, folk art, music, tourism, historical places, statehood movement and prominent personalities of the state.
The minister said that the State government has implemented the concept of bag free day in a month and the maximum weight limit (class-wise) of the school bags in the government schools and now it will be extended to the private schools. He opined that the bag free day concept will also help in reducing the stress on the students and provide them with adapting to new teaching techniques. Rawat said that the bag free day concept will be formally implemented in the private schools in the first week of April. In another important decision taken in the meeting, it was decided to connect all the private schools with the Vidhya Sameeksha Kendras, the minister informed.
