The Public Works Department (PWD) has started permanent road repair and patchwork work across Dehradun, with the department’s entire team currently focused on repairing damaged roads and filling potholes. The PWD engineer-in-chief Rajesh Chandra Sharma said that the repair work has been taken up on priority basis to improve road conditions across the city.
Sharma said that repair and patchwork work on major stretches, including Chakrata road, Karanpur road, Subhash road and Prince Chowk is almost completed. The department is using bitumen for road repairs and patchwork to ensure proper and durable restoration of damaged portions.
He said that PWD teams have been deployed at various locations and work is being carried out continuously to complete the remaining stretches at the earliest. The department is also focusing on permanent repairs rather than temporary measures so that the roads can withstand regular traffic and weather conditions, he said.
Sharma further said that the PWD has set a target of making Dehradun “gaddha-mukt” by October 30. He added that the department is closely monitoring the ongoing works and efforts are being made to complete the repairs within the set deadline.
