In latest news from Doon, with forest blaze still ravaging large swathes of forest floors across the State a few days ahead of the commencement of the Char Dham yatra, the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami decided to return to Dehradun, cancelling all his electoral engagements in other states. Notably, he was to campaign in Telangana extensively. But taking note of the grim forest blaze, he chose to cancel all his political programmes and decided to fly straight to Dehradun from Hyderabad.
The State government sources said that the CM is slated to convene a high-level meeting to review the present status of the forest fire and the loss it has so far inflicted. He had already directed the officers concerned to douse the blaze in a week by any means. He is all the more worried as the blaze, if not controlled, may negatively impact the much-awaited Char Dham yatra.
