Rain and hail provide some relief from heat in Doon and other places even as wildfires continue in other parts

Rain, thunderstorms and hail brought the maximum temperature down by about three degrees compared to the previous day in Dehradun on Saturday. Similar conditions were experienced in some other parts of the State even as dry conditions and other factors fuelled forest fires in some other parts of the State. The State meteorological centre has issued a yellow warning (Watch) regarding the possibility of thunderstorms accompanied with lightning/hail likely to occur at isolated places in Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Dehradun, Chamoli and Pithoragarh districts of the State on Sunday.
Apart from this, very light to light rain/thunderstorms are likely to occur at isolated places in Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Dehradun, Chamoli and Pithoragarh districts today.
The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to witness a partly cloudy sky with the maximum and minimum temperatures likely to be about 36 degrees Celsius and 20 degrees Celius respectively in Dehradun today.
The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in various parts of the State on Saturday were 35 degrees Celsius and 24.4 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 38 degrees Celsius and 21.5 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 24 degrees Celsius and 12.8 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 20.5 degrees Celsius and 12.8 degrees Celsius in New Tehri. Light rainfall was recorded in various places with 1.4 millimetre in New Tehri, 0.7 millimetre in Dehradun, 1.7 millimetre in Tehri, 1.4 millimetre in Mussoorie. Seven millimetres in Chakrata and six millimetres in Auli.
