Rain brings major relief from heat but also damages crops

Light to moderate rain was reported in various parts of the State on Saturday. The rain and hail has brought major relief from the heat but has also damaged standing crops in various parts of the State.
The temperatures which were hovering above normal have been below normal for the past few days since the change in weather. Similar weather is expected in parts of the State on Sunday. The State Meteorological Centre has forecast that very light to light rain is likely to occur at isolated places in Uttarkashi, Chamoli and Pithoragarh districts today.
The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to wintess a mainly clear sky today. However, the temperatures are expected to remain comparatively lower. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 30 degrees Celsius and 15 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun today.
Meanwhile, the temperatures have continued to remain below normal in various parts of the State. The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in various parts of the State on Saturday were 29.7 degrees Celsius and 16.8 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 33.4 degrees Celsius and 16.5 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 20.2 degrees Celsius and 6.7 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 14.9 degrees Celsius and 8.4 degrees Celsius in New Tehri.
The maximum temperature was three degrees Celsius below normal while the minimum was normal in Dehradun whereas the maximum was a degree below normal and the minimum was a degree above normal in Pantnagar. The maximum temperature was two degree below normal and the minimum was three degrees below normal in Mukteshwar while in New Tehri the maximum qas 11 degrees below normal and the minimum was four degrees below normal on Saturday.
