Rain mayhem continues: Char Dham Yatra halted for two days

In latest Dehradun news, taking note of the torrential rain pounding several parts of Uttarakhand over the past 24 hours, the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami announced two-day halt of the ongoing Char Dham Yatra. He appealed to the stranded pilgrims to exercise restraint for a couple of days and resume the pilgrimage according to the weather report being sent by the Met department. While holding a high-level review meeting in his official residence regarding the mayhem the incessant spell of rain has been unleashing on the State, he said that a disaster-like situation has arisen in a large swathe of the State. He also reviewed the rescue and relief operations now being carried out in the areas affected by rain fury. In course of the meeting, the CM was apprised in details of loss of life and property in Pauri district. He asked the district administrations, the SDRF teams and those engaged in rescue/relief operations to remain in alert mode for the next 24 hours. The CM further said he has been monitoring the situation himself round the clock.
The administrative order regarding two-day halt (August 14 and 15) of the Char Dham Yatra was issued in the name of the secretary of the State disaster management Ranjit Sinha.
