Forecasting rain and snowfall in the higher reaches of Uttarakhand, the meteorological department has issued a yellow alert. As per the weather forecast, there are chances of hailstorm along with rain in the plains while heavy snowfall may occur in areas above 3500 metres. This aside, thunder shower and hail storm may lash some areas of the state. Wind may blow at the speed of 40 to 50 kms per hour.
The weather remaining inclement, it has been raining in the plain areas of the state, including the capital Dehradun. At the same time, the higher altitude areas have been experiencing snowfall. The incessant snowfall in Kedarnath has compounded the problems of the pilgrims. It has been raining continuously too in the Yamuna Valley, including Yamunotri.
