Rain, snowfall and gusty winds likely in State today

Amidst rising temperatures across the State, the weather may take a turn in some parts of the State with rain, snowfall and gusty winds forecast today. The State meteorological centre has issued a yellow warning (Watch) regarding the possibility of thunderstorms accompanied with lightning/ hail/ gusty wind (40-50 kmph) likely to occur at isolated places in the mountain districts of the State today.
The meteorological centre has also forecast that light to moderate rain/thunderstorms are likely to occur at many places in Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh districts and at a few places in Dehradun, Tehri and Pauri district on Friday. Very light to light rain/thunderstorms likely to occur at isolated places in the remaining districts of Uttarakhand. Light to moderate snowfall is likely to occur in places situated at altitudes of 4,000 metres and above in Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh districts.
The provisional State capital Dehradun is likely to witness a partly cloudy sky. Thunder cloud development/very light rain is likely to occur in some areas. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 34 degrees Celsius and 20 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun today.
The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded on Thursday were 34.9 degrees Celsius and 18.8 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 33 degrees Celsius and 17.1 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 24.5 degrees Celsius and 10.3 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 25 degrees Celsius and 14.1 degrees Celsius in New Tehri.
