Rain & snowfall forecast in State on December 8-9

The weather is expected to take a turn in the State on the weekend. Light rain and snowfall are forecast in the State on December 8 and 9, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).Further, the maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to gradually decrease by two to four degrees Celsius during the next three to four days in the State.

According to the State Meteorological Centre director Bikram Singh, light to very light rain is forecast on December 8 and 9 in some parts of all the districts. Apart from this, snowfall is likely to occur at isolated places situated at altitudes of 2,500 metres and above on December 8 and 9 in the State. The weather is expected to return to dry on the following days.

For Friday the meteorological centre has forecast that dry weather is likely to prevail in all districts of the State.

The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to witness a mainly clear sky with mist likely to occur during the morning hours. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 25 degrees Celsius and eight degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun today.

The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in various parts of the State on Thursday were 25.2 degrees Celsius and 8.3 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 23.6 degrees Celsius and 5.2 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 20.3 degrees Celsius and 5.9 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 18.6 degrees Celsius and six degrees Celsius in New Tehri. While the maximum was two degree above normal in Dehradun, the minimum temperature was normal. The maximum was a degree below normal while the minimum was two degrees below normal in Pantnagar. Similarly, the maximum was four degrees above normal with the minimum being a degree above normal in Mukteshwar whereas both the maximum and minimum temperatures were normal in New Tehri.
