Rain & snowfall likely in mountainous districts today

A cloudy sky brought the maximum temperature in Dehradun down by three degrees from normal on Monday. The maximum temperature in other places also registered a drop. Similar weather is expected on Tuesday with the State meteorological centre forecasting very light to light rain/thunderstorm likely to occur at isolated places and snowfall likely to occur at places situated at altitudes above 3,500 metres in Uttarkashi, Chamoli, and Pithoragarh districts today. There is also a possibility of moderate fog at isolated places in the plain areas of the State, especially in Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar districts. Dry weather is likely to prevail in the remaining districts.

The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to witness a mainly clear to partly cloudy sky. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 24 degrees Celsius and 12 degrees Celsius respectively.

The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in various places on Monday were 20.4 degrees Celsius and 13 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 21.6 degrees Celsius and 13.6 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 10.8 degrees Celsius and 7.2 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 14.6 degrees Celsius and 9.4 degrees Celsius in New Tehri. The maximum temperature dropped by three degrees from normal in Dehradun, four degrees in Pantnagar, five degrees in Mukteshwar and four degrees in New Tehri.
