Rain & snowfall likely in mountains, dense fog alert issued for plains

Light rain and snowfall is forecast in the mountainous regions today while a dense fog alert has been issued for the plains. The State meteorological centre has issued an orange warning (alert) regarding the possibility of dense to very dense fog likely to occur at few places in Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar districts on Saturday. Apart from this, moderate to dense fog is likely to occur at many places in the plains of the State today. Further, very light to light rain/snowfall is likely to occur at isolated places in Uttarkashi, Chamoli and Pithoragarh districts on Saturday.

For the provisional State capital Dehradun, the meteorological centre has forecast a mainly clear to partly cloudy sky with mist likely to occur during the morning hours. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 24 degrees Celsius and eight degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun today.

On Friday, the minimum temperatures were above normal in various parts of the State. The maximum and minimum temperatures on Friday were 24.8 degrees Celsius and 7.1 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 20 degrees Celsius and 9.4 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 13 degrees Celsius and 4.1 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 15 degrees Celsius and 4.6 degrees Celsius in New Tehri. The maximum and minimum temperatures were four degrees and one degree above normal respectively in Dehradun while the minimum temperature in Pantnagar was five degrees above normal. The minimum temperature was two degrees above normal in Mukteshwar while the maximum and minimum temperatures were both one degree above normal in New Tehri.
