Rain & snowfall likely to continue in higher reaches today

With less than a week left for the end of April, rainy weather is set to continue in parts of the State. The State meteorological centre has forecast that very light to light rain/thunderstorms/snowfall are likely to occur at a few places in the higher reaches of Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh districts on Monday. Apart from this, dry weather is likely to prevail in the remaining districts of the State today. The meteorological centre has further forecast that snowfall is likely to occur at places located at altitudes of 3,500 metres and above.

The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to witness mainly clear to partly cloudy skies today with the maximum and minimum temperatures likely to be about 33 degrees Celsius and 16 degrees Celsius respectively.

Meanwhile the maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in various parts of the State on Sunday were 30.8 degrees Celsius and 16.2 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 31.6 degrees Celsius and 13.2 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 19.4 degrees Celsius and nine degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 20.3 degrees Celsius and 9.8 degrees Celsius respectively in New Tehri. The drop from normal in the maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in these cities on Sunday is three and two respectively in Dehradun, five and four in Pantnagar, four and two in Mukteshwar and six and three in New Tehri respectively. Trace to light rain was also reported in some parts of the State with 3.5 millimetres in Ukhimath, 1.5 millimetres in Dunda, one millimetre in Karnprayag and 0.5 millimetre each in Uttarkashi, Ghat and Tapovan.
