Rainfall activity likely to escalate from Monday
Yellow warning issued, heavy rain likely in three districts today

After a brief lull of a few days, the rainfall activity is forecast to escalate in the State from August 21 to 25. Meanwhile, the State meteorological centre has issued a yellow warning (watch) regarding the possibility of heavy rain likely to occur at isolated places in Dehradun, Nainital and Bageshwar districts on Sunday. Thunderstorms accompanied with lightning and intense to very intense spells are likely to occur at isolated places in the mountain districts of the State. Further, light to moderate rain/thunderstorms are likely to occur at many places in Dehradun, Tehri, Pauri, Nainital, Champawat, Udham Singh Nagar, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh districts and at a few places in the remaining districts of the State on Sunday. The State meteorological centre director Bikram Singh further informed that the rainfall activity is expected to escalate in the State from August 21 to 25.
The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to witness partly to generally cloudy skies today. Light to moderate rain/thundershowers are likely to occur, which may be intense in some areas. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 34 degrees Celsius and 25 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun today.
The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in various places on Saturday were 34.4 degrees Celsius and 23.7 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 35 degrees Celsius and 27 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 23.9 degrees Celsius and 15.9 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 26.5 degrees Celsius and 16.8 degrees Celsius in New Tehri. There was 24 millimetres rain in Lansdowne, nine millimetres in Laldhang and 3.5 millimetres in Mussoorie.
