Rains douse forest fires, more succour from heat forecast today

With the weather having come as a major relief dousing out most of the forest fires in various parts of the State especially in Bageshwar, Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag districts and other areas, more succour from the heat is in store in some parts of the State on Friday. According to the Forest Survey of India, there were zero large forest fire events active on Thursday. The State meteorological centre has forecast that light to moderate rain/thunderstorms are likely to occur at few places in the mountainous regions of the State today. Very light to light rain/thunderstorms are likely to occur at isolated places in the plains too. The meteorological centre has also issued a yellow warning (Watch) regarding the possibility of thunderstorms accompanied with lightning/hail/gusty wind (40-50 kmph) likely to occur at isolated places in the mountainous districts of the State. The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to witness a partly cloudy sky. Light rain/thunderstorms accompanied with lightning/gusty wind (40-50 kmph) are likely to occur in some areas. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 34 degrees Celsius and 23 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun today.
The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in various parts of the State on Thursday were 33.5 degrees Celsius and 22.6 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 35.5 degrees Celsius and 23.4 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 18.2 degrees Celsius and 11 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 23.7 degrees Celsius and 13.8 degrees Celsius in New Tehri.
