Rainwater harvesting made mandatory by MDDA in schools

The vice chairperson of Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) Banshidhar Tiwari stated that the provision for rainwater harvesting will be made compulsory in all private schools within six months after the Lok Sabha elections in the State. All schools will have to abide by the rules or strict action will be taken against them, Tiwari said in a review meeting on Monday. He said that the MDDA will also revive all the ponds of Dehradun through rainwater harvesting. Besides this, the Kund at Triveni Ghat in Rishikesh will also be developed and recharged via rainwater harvesting. He also directed the officials to develop the top floor of the MDDA complex located at Ghantaghar on the lines of high-end complexes in the country. He asked them to prepare a detailed project report and present it to him soon. He said that the old shopping mall in the ISBT building of Dehradun will also be developed similarly which will have facilities like a kid’s zone and food court among others. He also asked the officials to identify encroachments from Kuthal Gate to Paniwala Band and remove them after the LS elections. The MDDA will also release brochures of flats constructed in Aamwala Tarla and Dhaulas under the government schemes after the LS elections. Tiwari also directed the officials to auction all the vacant plots and shops under MDDA. He asked the officials to construct a guest house on MDDA’s 600 square metres of land on Rajpur Road situated at Sai Mandir. The guest house will be given later on rent to a renowned hotel group for operation. The VC also instructed the officials to start the payment process to traders of Adat Bazaar after April 19. He said that MDDA will also take a revised estimate from the Public Works Department for widening and beautification of intersections.
