Rainy disruption continues- 174 roads blocked across State

With rains dotted with heavy spells continuing to result in landslides and other incidents across the State, the authorities are struggling to keep the road network open and safe for traffic. About a score less than 200 roads are blocked in various parts of the State.

According to the State Emergency Operations Centre (SEOC), at least 174 roads were reported to be blocked in various districts on Monday evening. In Uttarkashi district, the national highways to Yamunotri and Gangotri were open though one district road, one State highway and nine rural motor roads were reported to be blocked in the district. In neighbouring Tehri district, one national highway, three State highways, one main district road and 13 rural motor roads were reported to be blocked. The Rishikesh-Kedarnath national highway was open in Rudraprayag district though 15 rural motor roads were reported to be blocked in the district. Three State highways, two main district roads and 22 rural motor roads were reported to be blocked in Pauri district while two State highways, one main district road and 30 rural motor roads were reported to be blocked in Dehradun district. One rural motor road was reported to be blocked in Almora district while one bridge on NH-74 is damaged at Kashipur in Udham Singh Nagar district. Two State highways and 10 rural motor roads were reported to be blocked in Nainital district while one State highway and two rural motor roads were blocked in Bageshwar district. The national highway to Badrinath is open in Chamoli district though the Karnprayag- Gwaldam motor road has been washed out near Shimalsain and 30 rural motor roads are blocked in the district. Similarly, three motor roads were reported to be blocked in Champawat district while NH-1447 (BRO) is washed out near Banik and 10 rural motor roads are also blocked in the Pithoragarh district.
