Meteorological centre warns of thunderstorms with lightning & hail

The festival of Holi is likely to be rainy in parts of six districts of the State on Wednesday. A warning has also been issued regarding the possibility of thunderstorms with lightning and hail at isolated places. According to the State meteorological centre, very light to light rain/thunderstorm/snowfall is likely to occur at isolated places in Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Bageshwar, Pithoragarh districts and the mountainous regions of Dehradun district on Wednesday. Snowfall is likely to occur at places situated at altitudes of 3,500 metres and above. Apart from this, dry weather is likely to prevail in the remaining districts of the State today. The meteorological centre has also issued a warning (watch) regarding the possibility of thunderstorms accompanied with lightning/hail likely to occur at isolated places in the above mentioned districts today.

The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to witness mainly clear to partly cloudy skies. Thunder cloud development is likely to occur in some areas. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 29 degrees Celsius and 14 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun today. Meanwhile, the maximum and minimum temperatures recorded at various places in the State on Tuesday were 29.2 degrees Celsius and 13.4 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 28.5 degrees Celsius and 10 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 20.4 degrees Celsius and 7.2 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar, 19.9 degrees Celsius and 9.4 degrees Celsius respectively in New Tehri.
