Raise voter awareness, connect with youths through social media: Purushottam

Chief electoral officer BVRC Purushottam has directed officials to pay special attention to voter awareness programmes to increase the vote percentage in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. He said that along with Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) activities, support should also be taken from the print, electronic and social media. The social media should be used especially to connect with youths, he said. The CEO said this while chairing a meeting to review
the election related preparations with the nodal officers on Wednesday. Purushottam said that all preparations should be completed within the time limit given by the Election Commission of India. He said that the State deployment plan should be prepared as per the standards of the security management plan and the commission. He also stressed on ensuring that election related personnel are properly trained. The CEO further said that information about the various important initiatives taken by the Election Commission of India should also reach the people. Booth-wise strategy should be made to increase the vote percentage and booth level awareness groups should be activated, he added.
