The Uttarakhand Congress has taken strong exception to the comment of Defence minister Rajnath Singh in which he defended the decision to change chief ministers in the state. The vice president of Pradesh Congress Committee, Surendra Kumar said that the statement of Rajnath that the people should have no objection for changing the CMs even if ten CMs are changed is objectionable since by doing this the BJP has insulted the mandate given to it. He said that changing three CMs in three months hindered the pace of development in a small state like Uttarakhand.
Terming the BJP government of Uttarakhand as the mining loving government, Kumar said that the ban imposed by the high court on the mining policy and the allegation leveled by a BJP leader on a government officer in Kotdwar proves that the state government of Uttarakhand is being run by the mining mafia.
He also questioned the programme organised by the government in all 70 assembly constituencies at a cost of Rs 8.40 crore of government exchequer and alleged that the BJP government is spending government money on the programmes of the party. He said that the government officers and employees should not attend such programmes at a time when the elections are near.
